HISTORICAL PICTURES OF IRANIANS FROM HOLLAND MUSEUM



 


 

 Here's a photo album containing 29 historical pictures on Iran , taken
during the last decades of the 19th and first decades of the 20th centuries.

The photographer was Antoin Sevruguin, who was born in the Russian
Embassy in Tehran
in 1840 and died in 1933. He was known  as a famous
and talented photographer in Tehran and Tabriz .

Sevruguin found his way to Mozaffareddin Shah, the Crown Prince of the
Qajar dynasty and became the special photographer of the court.

Some of his pictures was put on display in an exhibition in the winter of
2002 in Golestan Palace Museum and included modern prints made from
Sevruguin's original glass-plate negatives.

These pictures are from the National Museum of Ethnology in Leiden
,
The Netherlands .
