President George W. Bush

White House

Dear President Bush:

We heard President Carter’s comments regarding your Presidency today. It is ironic how a man who has been the cause of the current situation in the world is now pointing fingers. If it wasn’t for President Carter’s betrayal of a true friend and ally of the United States back in 1979, the Shah of Iran, the world would not be where it is today.

President Carter on one hand called Iran the “Island of Stability “upon his official visit to Iran at a dinner hosted by His Majesty and then accused the Shah’s government of violating Human Rights in Iran. His indirect support of the Ayatollah and his clan brought about the fall of the Shah and the inception of the Islamic Republic. From the very beginning this regime started spreading its evil by taking over the US embassy in Tehran and holding hostages for 3... Days. This was the start of the spreading of the biggest threat to the world “Islamic Fundamentalism”  what Mr. Carter and his clan called the “Green Belt”.

For the past 28 years the report card of the Islamic Revolution both inside and outside the borders of Iran is known to the world. Violations of Human Rights, stoning of pregnant women, women….., growing number of political prisoners, abuse and torture of dissidents inside and outside Iran, bombings and acts of terror throughout the world in the name of Islam, interfering in affairs of its neighboring countries, funding, training harboring different terrorist organizations throughout the world…

Where has this great advocate of Human Rights and Nobel Peace Prize winner been all these years? We have yet to see a statement on his behalf denouncing these violations and standing up for our compatriots. Instead he quickly volunteered to host Former President of the Islamic Republic, Mr. Khatami on his last visit to the U.S.

How could a former President and an advocate of Human Rights want to host a leader of a terrorist regime especially when the US government’s policy has been one of sanction against the current regime in Iran?

The Iranian people have appreciated your support of their fight for freedom and democracy and hope you will show the world in the next two years that your office truly stands with the people of Iran and not the regime and its apologists who are hard at work in the US. As one of the groups dedicated to the cause of freedom , democracy and secularism for our homeland we denounce President Carter’s comments and ask him to look at his own report card. The Iranian people will never forget his administrations policies vis a vis our homeland.

Sincerely yours,

Amir Hakim
